Ok, Here's one for a Network Guy...

I have:
A DSL Connection
2 Routers hooked up (In Series)
1 Router sitting on a shelf.
And a few LAN Cards (10/100/1G).

The LAN works fine, and I can swap files without any probs, or Lag time -
No complaints there.

What I am thinking is that:
I could put a total of 2 LAN cards in One computer
Hook Each LAN Card to a (Seperate) Router.
Hook those Routers To the Third Router
And hook The Third router to My DSL.

If I were to hook two LAN cards to one router the router could/would
read them as 0 and 1 from the same Computer.

However if I use seperate Routers I can play with the IP Numbers
(in addition to anything I could do within XP) So the Third router would
"Think" the connections were comming from Two seperate Routers,
and thus two seperate computers.

The Idea would be to Dual channel the connection - like using
2) 256Mb Memory Strips instead of
1) 512Mb

Has Anybody tried this?
Does It Work?
Ideas?
Suggestions?

- Figure It's worth a Try

I'd like to hear advice or opinions...

I figure -
It looks good on paper,
If I could find a Network Cable, or Crimper I'd give it a try.
(Maybe one will show up)
Figure Bridging the connections...

Should speed up the LAN Area Speeds, but Dunno about Download speeds.
Also seem to recall that this was done years back and the new computers
would be better equiped to deal with it.

---
Time - ??? - Sometimes Yes, Mostly No.
(haven't seen or had time to see friends in over 6 Mos.)

My office isn't functioning, So I'm getting rid of everything that I don't use.
Trying to see what I have (a legitimate reason to keep), can use / need.

At the moment, my system is:

1- Dell Precision 450 (Dual Xeon) - XP
1- Dell Optiplex GX110 (P3) - XP
1- Gateway E-4200 (P3) - Linux
1- MaxAttach 4100
1- MaxAttach 4000
1- Toshiba Satellite (Laptop)
1- KVM
1- Sharp LCD 17"

And the routers described earlier...

I'm thinking Beowulf (http://www.beowulf.org/) - LOL

Currently in Office - Rethinking:
Move DSL Connection and 1 Router to Garage
1- Homemade Celeron -2000 (Old Test Bed)
Thinking - Toss It Out or use it between the last router and the DSL
1- IBM Laptop (Giving it to the Junkman to backup his database)

Current Shopping list:
UPS
1-2 LCD monitors
(Used Dual monitors a few years ago and loved it)
Thinking something like this:

http://www.digitaltigers.com/displays-trio.shtml

Dreaming - Not Currently Practical: Shocked

----
Tossed Out / Given Away:
(Past 30 Days - Not worth the trouble of putting on E-Bay and the stop at UPS)

4 Routers, 3 Switches, 3 CRT's, 2 printers, 2 Celerons, 1 P2, 1 P1, 1 486,
2 laptops, UPS (Died - old age) LOTS of P2 era Parts, like iOmega Zip drives
(about 6 of them) about a dozen Keyboards/mice Boxes of cables.

Several hundered CD and DVD's
- Tip to prevent them from being read toss them in a Microwave for apx 15 Seconds.

So far,

I had BellSouth here yesterday to replace my modem
(Modem was bad, only using 20% of bandwidth -
new modem much better - LOL)

Found some Cable and installed an extra LAN Card, hooked both to same router.

No percevable difference in On-Line speed - (Did Bridge the connections)
