General manager Brian Cashman said this evening that Roger Clemens will need another minor-league start, and he'll make that Monday in Triple AAA Scranton.
There had been hope that Clemens would be ready after just two minor-league starts, but he wasn't particularly sharp in a 102-pitch, 5 1/3 -inning outing against Portland at Double-A Trenton on Wednesday, allowing three runs and six hits while walking four and hitting a batter. Clemens was scheduled for a bullpen session today, and Torre believed that it took place in Houston.
"He's going to have another start," manager Joe Torre said. "I don't think there's any question about that. ... The other day (the problem) seemed to be command." |
